Third graders at Spearfish East Elementary appreciate their new dictionaries
Being a crossing at East Elementary can be an opportunity to get feedback.

A third grader recently stopped one of our Kiwanis Crossing guards to tell him that he appreciated the dictionary.  The student thanked the Kiwanian again and said that he uses it almost every day.  The student promised to bring it out to show it to the crossing guard some day.  It's nice to hear that our donated dictionaries are being put to good use.  Another successful project!!

Spearfish Kiwnanis Committee reps meet with prospective new members

Thanks to Bill Nachtilo for organizing a very enjoyable luncheon for several prospective members..

Perkins Restaurant, here in Spearfish, hosted a luncheon for representatives of each of Spearfish Kiwanis Committees and three local business people who had expressed an interest in becoming members.  The lunch provided an excellent opportunity for all of the committes to explain the goals and projects and for the prospective members to ask questions.

Join in the fun, become a crossing guard.
School starts - and so does "Crossing Guard Duty" for the Kiwanis Club.

With start of school this month, the Kiwanis Club is back on duty also.  We staff the crosswalk just north of East Elementary, by the alley, each morning.  It's an important task that doesn't take a lot of time.  You can tell by the number of parents that wave and smile that our efforts are appreciated. Thank You to all the Kiwanians who are participating in this service to the community.  The crossing guard calendar is now on this website. - just go to club activity calendar and hit the link to crossing guard calendar.

Club hosts a clergy appreciation day.
In honor of clergy appreciation month, the club's spiritual aims committee sponsored a clergy appreciation day at our regular Friday meeting on October 28.  Vic Uttke introduced our guests and read a verse from 1st Timothy that was the theme for appreciation day:

Let the elders who rule well be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in preaching and teaching;
It is the hope of the spiritual aims committe that this will become an annual event.  Thank you to the clergy who took time from their schedules to attend.
